Release Date:

October 16, 2014

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Presbyterian Hospital received the National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) Acute Coronary Treatment and Intervention Outcomes Network (ACTION) Registry-Get With The Guidelines (GWTG) Platinum Performance Achievement Award for the third year in a row. The award comes from the American College of Cardiology for 2014 and acknowledges cardiology programs that achieve excellence in providing quality care to heart attack patients.

Presbyterian Hospital – one of only 256 hospitals nationwide to receive the honor this year – consistently followed the treatment guidelines in the ACTION Registry-GWTG Premier for eight consecutive quarters and met a performance standard of 90 percent for specific performance measures.

“Presbyterian is committed to providing our heart attack patients with the highest level of care,” said Dr. Robert Federici, medical director, heart service line, Presbyterian Healthcare Services. “This award recognizes our implementation of the American College of Cardiology’s clinical guidelines and reflects the successful coordination of our cardiovascular team and emergency personnel, which is a critical step in saving the lives and improving outcomes of our heart attack patients.”

The NCDR is a cardiovascular data repository, providing evidence-based quality improvement solutions for cardiologists and other medical professionals who are committed to measurement, improvement and excellence in cardiovascular care. ACTION Registry-GWTG is a risk-adjusted, outcomes-based quality improvement program that focuses exclusively on high-risk ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI) patients. It helps hospitals apply American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association clinical guideline recommendations in their facilities and provides invaluable tools to measure care and achieve quality improvement goals.
