U.S. News & World Report Names Presbyterian Best Regional Hospital

Release Date:

July 22, 2015

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – Today Presbyterian Hospital* was rated a “Best Regional Hospital” in recognition of high performance in knee and hip replacement and heart failure procedures by U.S. News & World Report.

The distinction recognizes Presbyterian’s three Central New Mexico hospitals – Presbyterian Hospital, Presbyterian Rust Medical Center and Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital.

U.S. News evaluated more than 4,600 hospitals in five common inpatient procedures and medical conditions – heart bypass surgery, hip replacement, knee replacement, heart failure and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) – and rated them high performers, average or below average.  Presbyterian was one of only 378 that achieved a “High Performing” rating for at least two of the five conditions or procedures.

“The Best Regional Hospital rating recognizes our commitment to providing safe, quality care for our patients,” said Kathy Davis, RN, Senior Vice President and Chief Experience Officer, Presbyterian Healthcare Services. “This achievement would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of our providers and staff.”

U.S. News created Best Hospitals for Common Care to help patients find better care for the kinds of common procedures and medical conditions that account for millions of hospitalizations each year. Eligibility is limited to general acute-care hospitals. The Best Hospitals for Common Care ratings rely on Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services data for patients 65 and older, as well as survey data from the American Hospital Association and clinical registry data from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.

*Combined data from all three Presbyterian Central New Mexico hospitals were submitted under the umbrella of Presbyterian Hospital.
